Stanley Kubrick was an honored filmmaker of many movies including "2001: A Space Odyssey." Based on statistical analysis he believed that intelligent life exists outside of Earth. "I don't know. The evidence proves they're up there, but it gives us very little clue as to what they are."

He believed he saw a UFO with Arthur C. Clarke after working on the "2001: A Space Odyssey" script. Their sighting was investigated by the U.S. Air Force as part of Project Blue Book, which determined they witnessed a NASA prototype satellite named Echo I.

Project Blue Book determined that Clarke and Kubrick witnessed an Earth-orbiting satellite called the Echo I. The Echo I looked very similar to this image of the Echo II.
