In December 1980, the Rendlesham Forest incident occurred near Suffolk, England, involving unexplained lights and UFO landings just outside RAF Woodbridge, used by the USAF. Numerous USAF personnel, including Deputy Base Commander Lieutenant Colonel Charles I. Halt, reported UFO sightings. This event is the UK's most famous UFO incident, akin to the Roswell incident in the US. However, the UK Ministry of Defence deemed it non-threatening to national security, and it was not investigated as a security matter.
