Congressional Hearings on UFOs

Congressional Hearings on UFOs
Congressional hearings led by future U.S. President Gerald Ford.

Congressional hearing. A string of UFO sightings in Massachusetts and New Hampshire provoked a Congressional Hearing by the House Committee on Armed Services. Congressional hearings had initially begun in 1966, when then-congressman Gerald Ford called for an US Air Force report and for congressional hearings to discuss Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) sightings following a string of sightings. The USAF and the U.S. House of Representative''s armed services committee met on April 6, 1966 to discuss their "flying saucer" investigation. This meeting lead to a USAF contract with the University of Colorado for $300,000 to independently study flying saucers for 18 months.
