Documents from the 1950s report that the prime minister ordered a RAF bombing crew's encounter with a UFO be hidden from the public for 50 or more years to avoid "mass panic."
On the way back from a bombing raid in the 1950s, British RAF crew witnessed, photographed, and reported a UFO off of the English coast. Winston Churchill, prime minister at the time, insisted that the report stay hidden for at least 50 years in order to avoid mass panic.
According to a scientist whose grandfather was one of Churchill's bodyguards, both Churchill and Eisenhower worked together to cover up the sighting. Supposedly, Churchill thought that not only could reports of the encounter cause mayhem among the public but that it would also devastate many people's views on religion.
