UFO skeptic believed that the McMinnville UFO photographs were fakes.
Robert Sheaffer, writer and UFO skeptic, examined the photographs taken by Paul Trent in the McMinnville incident. Based on shadows cast on objects in the photos, Sheaffer believed that the pictures were taken in the morning and were therefore faked, as the shadows did not align with what would be expected in the evening time given of the purported sighting. He also believed that the object was most likely hanging from power lines seen in the foreground and may even be sideview mirrors of Ford models that were made at that time.
