Writer and producer who critically examined pseudoscience, believed that the Westall incident can best be explained as a weather balloon.
Brian Dunning focused his career around busting pseudoscience. Dunning believed that the most reasonable explanation for the Westall event is a weather balloon and target drogue similar to a wind sock. He supposed that the subsequent years following the events has distorted memories. According to him, "Descriptions of what was actually seen have now become diluted with made-up descriptions by an unknown number of students who didn't see anything, and there's no way to know which is which."
