This video, purportedly shot in 1996 at White Sands, New Mexico, shows a bright object descending towards the ground, bouncing off the ground, and then returning to the ground to explode into pieces. It is probably a missile being tested at the White Sands Missile Range.

The footage, grainy and often posted and debated on the internet, appears to date back to 1996. Most likely shot with a tripod, some people claim it is a bright, spinning disc that is in the process of crashing.

The YouTube description and comments claim that the video came into the possession of Antony "Ant" Davison, who said he received the tape from Jaime Maussan, a well-known Mexican UFO investigator. Davison claims that he reprocessed the video, which came to him on a VHS tape.

This video appears to show a UFO crashing near the White Sands Missile Range circa 1996 or 1997.

The YouTube poster also states that CSETI (the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence) analyzed the video and said, "We determined that it was an experimental, classified craft being tested, most likely by the U.S. Department of Defense."

Others (most notably on the r/UFOs subReddit) claim that the explanation of the object is more prosaic: that it's old, low-quality footage (because it was shot in 1996) of a missile being tested and crashed at the White Sands Missile Range. The reason it looks so bright is because the bright ovoid flare is actually the exhaust of the missile - the body of the missile is not visible at this resolution and exposure.[1]
