"The UFO Experience: A Scientific Inquiry," written Dr. J. Allen Hynek, was published in 1972. Hynek, famed astronomer and scientific advisor to Project Blue Book, approached the UFO phenomenon from a scientific perspective. He proposed a new classification system for UFO sightings based on the quality of the data and evidence while also addressing common misconceptions and debunking theories surrounding UFOs. The author argued that there is a need for further scientific study and investigation of the phenomenon. "The UFO Experience: A Scientific Inquiry" also examined the psychological and societal implications of UFO sightings.
