Avro Canada VZ-9 Avrocar

Avro Canada VZ-9 Avrocar was a vertical take-off/landing (VTOL) aircraft created by Canadian company Avro under a US defense contract in the late-1950's/early 1960's. The craft, notable for its saucer-shaped design, was intended to be a sort of "flying Jeep" when deployed on the battlefield. The project was scuttled after 3 years owing to unreliability and budgetary issues.
