UFOs Over Phoenix
Strange lights and craft seen by thousands over Arizona desert.
Thousands of witnesses reported seeing strange lights in the skies above southern Arizona and Nevada on March 13, 1997. Witnesses described seeing bright lights hovering over the desert sky, behaving in a manner inconsistent with terrestrial airplane flight. The incident led to widespread public attention, as hundreds of phone calls flooded local police dispatchers with claims of UFO sightings. Possible explanations for the sightings range from undocumented military exercises to hoaxsters tying flares to balloons. The sightings of the Phoenix Lights, however, remain a mystery.
