The Roswell Incident
The Roswell incident is one of the most famous UFO events in history. In mid-June/early-July of 1947 (the exact date is in dispute), wreckage of a purported aeronautical crash was found at several locations outside of Roswell, New Mexico. The military immediately collected all of the debris from the sites. Several eyewitnesses reported seeing unidentifiable metallurgy strewn about multiple wreckage sites, while others claim to have seen bodies of deceased extraterrestrial pilots. Official government reports state that a downed weather balloon was mistaken by a public energized by the highly publicized "flying disc craze" of 1947. The Roswell case has long been shrouded by rumors alleging a government coverup of what was actually recovered at the site.
