The National Security Act of 1947 consolidated US military, created the US Air Force and established the CIA.
The National Security Act of 1947 was one of the largest reorganizations of military structure in American history. Under the act, the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force were merged into the Department of Defense and the NSA and CIA were established.
