April 6, 1966, was the largest mass UFO sighting in Australia. Around 300 people reported seeing a UAP in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The group was comprised of students and teachers who were outside of Westall High School when a saucer-shaped object about twice as large as an SUV descended overhead. It appeared to have a silver or grayish-purple hue as it streaked low above the school, hovered, and proceeded beyond a line of trees. There are conflicting reports about the number of flying objects as some say up to five other crafts were observed. Official explanations suggest a weather balloon.
