Member of the U.S. Coast Guard who was called over to a window by his colleague Shell Alpert, while on duty on July 16, 1952.
Flaherty and Alpert briefly observed four bright objects in a "V" formation in the sky. Alpert took a photograph, and suddenly there was a bright flash and the objects were no longer visible.
