New York senator and member of Intelligence and Armed Services committees advocated for government transparency regarding UAPs.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand explained her and other committee members' concerns over the stigma of reporting UAPs, believing it could lead to a national security issue. Gillibrand also desired government transparency in regards to aerial phenomenon. "The language we secured in the National Defense Authorization Act made it clear that the Department of Defense and other agencies must urgently approach this issue in a broad manner and consider all origins of UAP, known or unknown."
