Passenger aboard a 1948 commercial flight who witnessed a "strange eerie streak" pass by the airplane. Both pilots also observed and reported the strange sight.

The sole passenger awake on Eastern Airlines flight 576 during the Chiles-Whitted incident, Clarence L. McKelvie witnessed an unusual object streak past the airplane on July 24, 1948. Co-pilots Witted and Chiles also observed the UFO. McKelvie was so shocked by the fast-moving bright object that he didn't get a clear look at it, however, he later recounted that he'd never seen anything like it.

Interviewed by the Associated Press afterwards, McKelvie said, "'I saw no shape or form. I was on the right side of the plane, and suddenly I saw this strange eerie streak out of my window. It was very intense, not like lightning or anything I had ever seen.'
