Operation Paperclip: The Secret Intelligence Program that Brought Nazi Scientists to America

Examined the secret U.S. intelligence program, Operation Paperclip, which recruited Nazi German scientists after WWII to help advance the United States' space program during the Cold War.

Operation Paperclip: The Secret Intelligence Program that Brought Nazi Scientists to America written by Annie Jacobsen brings light to the clandestine project. From 1945 - 1959, over 1,600 scientists, engineers, and technicians from former Nazi Germany were brought to the United States to work for the government. The U.S. hoped to use their knowledge and skills to reinforce America's rockets and arsenal of weapons during the Cold War. One of the recruits, Wernher Von Braun, later rose to director of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and was the lead architect of the Saturn V which was necessary in eventually getting the first American astronauts on the Moon.
